My heart goes out to you. As a nurse I know -- there are patients that impact and change your life. Hopefully, Mr D shows you how much a transperson suffers in all aspects of life. It took me years to accept that I am a transsexual. Prayers, counseling, etc, did not remove my gender struggle. Transition has brought me a peace that I did not think existed. I have saved a dying child in a busy mall and led people to Christ on their death bed. Romans 8:28 says, "ALL things work together for good for those in Christ Jesus. God has blessed me this side of transition.

What a heart-breaking yet powerful story. It shows the depth of pain and confusion that homophobia, especially when it is based in religion, can have on a LGBT person...and on all society. Thank you so much for sharing your perspective from a nurses eyes - and heart. Your patients are lucky to have you caring for them.
